BioIdentical Hormone Replacement Therapy
When first starting bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, it is important to know what your hormone levels are. By doing a saliva test, you can determine if your signs/symptoms/syndromes/diseases are associated with hormone imbalances. Hormonal imbalance is associated with every major disease that plagues western society. The saliva test can check your estradiol, testosterone, progesterone, DHEAS, cortisol, etc. You can take a saliva test without a prescription from your physician. This is the first step to get started on bio identical hormone replacement therapy. It is simple and not nearly as expensive as serum blood testing that is done by a lab.
Consultations at our Pharmacy
Once the saliva test is complete, you can either do a consultation with one of the pharmacists at PharmaCare or we can refer you to a physician who is also knowledgeable about bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. If you choose to do a consultation with a pharmacist at PharmaCare, we will gather your medical history and your signs/symptoms from a patient questionnaire. During the consultation, the pharmacist will design a therapy program unique to your, individual needs. This consultation is unique in that you are getting the opinion of a doctor of pharmacy whose expertise is based in pharmacology. The pharmacist will make recommendations to your physician that will include nutritional supplements, vitamins, bioidentical hormone restoration therapy, lifestyle modifications, etc. Once we speak with your physician and get the ok, we can start balancing your hormones via bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. We’ll be there throughout therapy to answer your questions.

Traditional Hormone Replacement Therapy vs. Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy: What s the Difference?
Traditional Hormone Replacement Therapy vs. Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy: What s the Difference?
Traditional Hormone Replacement Therapy uses man-made chemicals to try and treat hormone imbalances. For example, if a woman is low in estradiol and progesterone, a practitioner who does not believed in Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) will frequently use horse estrogen and medroxyprogesterone. This is problematic because these are foreign chemicals to your body. Wouldn’t it make more sense to use estradiol and progesterone since they are already inside your body right now? Look at vitamin D for instance. If you are low in vitamin D, we supplement with vitamin D. There is no need to use a synthetic chemical. Lastly, synthetic hormones commonly have more side effects than BHRT. Look at medroxyprogesterone for example. Common side effects include: acne, water retention, anxiety, depression, etc. Progesterone would actually TREAT all these things! There are many reasons to choose BHRT over traditional hormone replacement therapy. These are just SOME of the benefits.
